Copying and Manipulating Sectors

This is a short exercise on how to copy sectors using the Right Alt key function as the normal tutorials are somewhat difficult to follow.

Here I have drawn a few sectors in an arrow formation so you can see what happens to it depending on how I manipulate it.

Copying in the same map.

In the 2D mode put your red cursor just to the top left of your sector and holding down the Right Alt key - move the mouse, NOT holding down any buttons - to just past the bottom right of your sector as shown below.

You'll notice a Green loop following the Red mouse cursor

Now let the Right Alt key go. You'll see the sector is now covered in green lines as shown below

Moving the Sector

With the red mouse cursor in the center of these sectors and holding down the left mouse button you can MOVE it to anywhere on your map. Please note at this stage it is NOT in Build's clipboard so to speak, so you cannot COPY it anywhere only MOVE it to where you want it

Copying the Sector

With the red mouse cursor in the center of these sectors and holding down the left mouse button - press the Insert key. Build will say "Sectors duplicated and stamped". Holding down the left mouse button - you can drag the copied sector to where you want to copy this sector to as shown below.

Manipulating the Copied Sector.

At this stage, if you want, you can use the < > keys to turn it in anyway you want or the Shift < > keys to turn it slowly as shown below.

Please note once you have copied the sector into Builds "clipboard" you no longer have to hold down the Left mouse button except if you want to drag it somewhere - this holds true for copying to another map also.

Ok - once you have decided where you want this sector, press the Right Alt key again. This will make a permanent copy of the sector as can be seen below.

Copying the Sector to another Map.

This is very simple - once you have copied the "Green" sector into Build's "clipboard" - just press Esc and "L" then select the map you want to load - once it's loaded press "Z" to zoom out till you see the "Green" sector, now drag it, manipulate it if need be and once it's where you want it - press the Right Alt key.

Just a word of caution here... If you "Manipulated" the sector in anyway at all the "Sprite Skill" settings will be lost that you set previously.

Just check all the ST1 sprite Tags, especially the Bool tags as I've had these reset to zero after manipulation.

That's it..
